About Chocolate Chip Cannabis Cookies

Everyone loves a good chocolate chip cookie – For many, these circular choc-studded yum-yums crack the top 10 for favourite comfort food! So… Now, imagine how awesome it would be to combine a tried and tested chocolate chip cookie recipe with some decarbed cannabis 🙂 That is what this recipe is all about; Chocolate Chip Cannabis Cookies

A “Space Cookie” By Another Name

Cannabis Cookies, or cookies infused with THC and CBD have baked and consumed all over the world, and with that kept in mind, here are some of the different names that they have been known to be called by:

  • Space Cookies
  • Cannabis Cookies
  • Canna Cookies
  • Weed Cookies
  • Special Cookies
  • Girl Scout Cookies
  • Magic Cookies

A Fair Warning:

I feel that this should go without saying, however, to be safe, I will mention it as often as possible when blogging about edibles: “Be careful, cannabis edibles can be very strong and the effects tend to last much longer than those produced by smoking cannabis or vaping it.”

Take heed of this warning before you consider consuming any cannabis edibles; It usually a good idea to start yourself off with a small portion of the edible first, this will help you to gauge your tolerance levels for said edible. Remember that most cannabis edibles will have different potency levels, especially the once you make at home!

Okay, moving on… Let’s take a look at what gear and ingredients we will need to get our chocolate chip cannabis cookies baked!

Gear List

  • 1 x set of measuring spoons
  • 1 x set of measuring cups
  • 1 x spatula
  • 1 x baking tray
  • 1 x baking sheet (large enough to cover your baking tray)
  • 2 x Mixing Bowls
  • 1 x Motorised Kitchen Mixer

Ingredient List

  • 227 g salted canna-butter, softened
  • 200 g white (granulated) sugar
  • 200 g light brown sugar packed
  • 10 ml pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 360 g all-purpose flour
  • 5 ml baking soda
  • 2.5 ml baking powder
  • 5 ml sea salt
  • 350 g chocolate chips (or chunks, or chopped chocolate)

Method

Step 1:

Start off by preheating your oven to 190 degrees C. While the oven is warming up, get your baking tray and line it with the piece of a baking sheet, then stick it one-side.

Step 2:

Next, mix the baking powder, baking soda, flour and salt all together in a bowl, then set it aside.

Step 3:

Now, in a separate mixing bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar and white sugar until the consistency of the mixture is “creamy”.

Step 4:

In the same bowl (from step 3) beat in the eggs and vanilla until the mixture has a “fluffy” consistency.

Step 5:

Next, Mix in the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined.

Step 6:

Then add 350 grams of chocolate chips and mix well. Now your chocolate chip cannabis cookie dough is ready 🙂

Step 7:

Take the dough and roll it into balls using 2-3 Table Spoons (if you like larger cookies, use more) of dough at a time then place them (evenly spaced) on your prepared baking tray.

Tip: If you have an ice-cream scoop handy then you are in good shape, I use one of these to make life easier on myself!

Step 8:

Slide your cookie balls into the preheated oven and leave them to bake for approximately 8-10 minutes.

Note: Ovens tend to vary when it comes to temperature accuracy and convection efficiency, so yeah, cooking time may be different based on how your oven performs…

Beware: it is very easy to misjudge and overcook these cookies, so be sure to take them out when they are just starting to turn brown.

Step 9:

Take the cookies out of the oven and let them sit on the baking tray for around 2 minutes before moving them over to your cooling rack.

Usage

Chocolate Chip Cannabis Cookies are great for social gatherings, they can be the perfect accent to your next picnic, they are awesome when smooshed up into ice-cream and well, you get the idea… 🙂
