About Hot Butter Bhang
This is quite an interesting bhang adaptation – of the many different types of bhang infused beverages, this is one of the few that is served hot. It is also known to be remarkably potent if prepared properly.
As you may have figured, ‘Hot Butter Bhang’ is composed mostly of, well, ‘melted butter’… Taking into account that THC and CBD both have high lipid (fat) solubility and low aqueous (water) solubility, it is easy to understand why the butter plays a huge part in this recipe. Given that there is a high lipid (fat) content in this bhang recipe, we allow for much better extraction of both CBD and THC.
The other main ingredient we will be working with here (besides cannabis) is vodka. Cannabinoids are also soluble in alcohol, this means that the vodka will help additionally with the extraction of THC and CBD, producing even more powerful bhang.
There is not much to it, in fact, it is probably one of the easier variations of bhang to prepare – If you are looking for a warm, potent cannabis beverage, then this is the bhang you’ve been searching for!
Ingredient List
- 55 Grams of Butter / Ghee
- 14 Grams of Chopped/Ground Cannabis
- 235 Millilitres Vodka
Optional Extras To Add Flavour
- 1 Tablespoon Of Honey
- 1 Pinch Of Cinnamon
- 5 Drops Of Vanilla Essence
Method
Step 1
Get a medium-sized saucepan (or something similar if you don’t have one) onto your stove-top and start melting your butter or ghee over a medium heat setting.
Step 2
Add the cannabis to the melted butter (or ghee – I am going to stop mentioning this now, with the hope that you are picking up what I am putting down.. lol) as well as the vodka, stirring constantly and raising the heat to a boil as you go.
Step 3
After your mixture reaches its boiling point, start to reduce the heat slowly to medium-low so that the mixture can simmer. Let it simmer like this for the next 30 minutes.
Step 4
Let your mixture cool down to room temperature naturally, then strain it through a sieve into two glasses, pushing on your bud with the back of a spoon (or something) as you strain so you can squeeze out all of the deliciousness.
Optional Step: If you like, you can reboil the mix after straining it for the first time and strain it again. This could maximize the amount of THC and CBD extracted from your cannabis. Depending on the quality of your cannabis, this may or may not produce any significant results, so use your own judgment to decide if it is necessary.
Step 5
Now, if you are like me (I tend to enjoy simple & easy), then I guess you are ready to go… However, most people do prefer a little bit of flavour ‘masking’ in their bhang, so if that is you, then this would be the right time to start garnishing your drink.
Some suggested flavour additives are honey, cinnamon powder, sugar, vanilla essence, etc. – you get the idea…
Remember, if getting creative with flavour is not your thing then we do have some recipes to follow that include the right herbs and spices to get you set on the right track.
